Giovanni Nakpil was greatly influenced by the magic of sci-fi and horror films as a child growing up in the Philippines. After relocating to Canada, he began his art career by studying Computer Graphics in Toronto. Giovanni then came to the US where he worked for the company Escape, on the "Matrix" movies, before joining the Lucasfilm company, Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), where he worked for over 10 years. Giovanni eventually became a digital model supervisor at ILM, working on many major motion pictures, including modeling creatures for "Star Wars", "Pirates of the Caribbean," and "The Spiderwick Chronicles," and also hard surface models for films like "War of the Worlds" and "Transformers".
